left of the dial and a trip to the future

i am listening to the compilation "left of the dial" dispatches from the 80's underground. it is a swell mesh of sounds from my growing up years. i just turned 35 a few days ago and listening to these sounds reminds me of how age is relative. music is a time machine, and while i would hope i never stay incertain places i certainly don't mind going back to revisit. it seems that left of the dial is where i usually end up anyway. getting older is strange, and yet i like it. what's really interesting is that when i was in highschool i didn't listen to only current music. i listened to a lot of music from the 70's too.so i would ride the time machine to the past, sometimes the 60's too, i liked the zombies a lot. then it was probably in the late 80's that i transported and stayed mostly in the present. now i can't stay caught up with present music, but i try, and my tastes vary from the quite ecclectic to rather mainstream. i'd rather be in the present with the music, or even visit the known past, than trip about the future where there is no music.

depeche mode is on at this moment, i am teleported to the Hollywood Paladium, it is 1983, melinda and i are wearing matching pants and shoes we bought on melrose. we are trying to smoke cigarettes in the lobby, or maybe that was souxsie. either way i think we have reached the peak of coolness.

p.s. poorworm is my publishing name...someday i may have a website for that, but in the meantime here's this blog. i learned about it from my friend jon, maybe he will let me send a link to his, if i can???

Hey Erin. Nice blog. Of course I had to make a blog for my self to be able to post a comment on your blog. Here it is:

http://farmerbobsfarm.blogspot.com/

I plan on posting new drawings and/or paintings that aren't on my site. I'll probably start posting some of the collabs if you're into it.

Also I will post some links that I find particularly worth a visit.

I'll see you in the comments column.
